Sniping: a must-know technique

Many people know it, but many others don't. This is the most basic must-know technique in hl2dm, a bottom/border line for noobs.

Primary sniping: (this is the way most people learn to do it as first)

Hold Z --- aim --- hold primary fire --- release Z

Note that you will not shoot anything while zoomed in, but your shot will be made after you have released the zoom button. You can train, and gradually get used to doing this incredibly quick.

Alternative sniping: (this is what I do, and what some, but not all, players do)

First, enter this code into the console:

bind z "toggle_zoom"

With z being your key for zoom, you can replace it with any key you want.

After doing this, you can zoom in, shoot all you want, and then zoom out when you're finished. A lot simpler, if you ask me, but those who have grown used to the first way usually stick to it.

When I use the crossbow I dont like the 2ndary fire zoom because im so used to zoom release

I use the toggle zoom bind myself. It works great until sombody gets up close, nothing worse that trying to defend your base when all you see are the pixels of the ground or wall.

Confused from FLAS was the one who initially taught me the bind. I wasn't used to it at first, but I listened to the CAL master's tip.
